ROOTS & RHYTHMS
No previous dance and drum experience needed and all skill levels are welcome and encouraged!
Campers will perform for their families and friends on the last day of camp.(TBD)
COVID-19 Updates
We will be in-person for our Spring and Summer camps. Manga will continue to commit to strongly follow the guidelines as and if released by the CDC. If weather permits, we will alternate indoor and outdoor spaces. DANCE
The class incorporates knowledge of different beats and rhythms and promotes coordination between the dances and the musical beats of the drum. The class teaches the history of the dances in their African cultural contexts.

DRUMMING
The class introduces students to rhythms from the following music instruments: Djembe, Djundjun, Songban, agogo (cowbell), shekere

ART
The class provides a multi-cultural learning experience, as participants make African crafts and traditional art forms, learn games, and experience the art of storytelling.

LANGUAGE
The class teaches basic French (spoken in the majority of West and Central African countries) by blending vocabulary and structure with fun games and African music.
